Welcome to the School Leader of Color Network!

The DLI School Leader of Color Network (SLOCN) is a membership-based network that offers dedicated programming to DLI fellows, alumni and existing school leaders. Born out of the need to support a thriving workforce of leaders of color, our programming, grounded on culturally responsive practices, centers on the following four pillars: Wellness & Self Care, Professional and Career Development, Advocacy, and Personal Growth. Our aim is to support the whole leader, now and far into the future.

WHAT IS THE SLOCN?

  • A curated community comprised of DLI Fellowship graduates and school leaders from our RDEI partnership organizations

  • Brave space for leaders of color

  • Support the holistic development of leaders of color by providing ongoing opportunities to engage in meaningful work

  • Support, develop and retain a thriving workforce of educators of color

THE SLOCN APPROACH…

  • The network offers a myriad of culturally responsive school leadership practices and resources that are critical for leadership growth and development of principals.

  • If school leaders are mentally, emotionally and physically well, they are better positioned to lead well, the SLOCN offers a range of opportunities for wellness and self care.

  • Through our applicant support package, members will develop a strong leadership portfolio to access roles and interrupt patterns that have prevented leaders of color to rise.

  • Our affinity spaces will allow leaders of color to unpack their unique experiences in leadership and empower them to engage in long-term work in order to disrupt systems of oppression.

SLOCN EVENTS

One of the SLOCN signature events is our annual Wellness Retreat. This summer, SLOCN members will be convening in San Diego, California for the 2024 DLI Wellness Retreat. As customary, the retreat will offer a range of wellness activities and workshops specifically tailored for school leaders.

Through our fellowship we are building a community, through our network we are building a movement.
